Appendix B - Features Not Supported In This Version
Some features did not make the v1.1 cut these will be included in the next released version:
• Understand certain C-News (RFC1036) compliant control messages. Control messages that should be implemented: “cancel”, “rmgroup”, “newgroup”, “version”. As it stands, v1.1 is not totally RFC1036 compliant, although it does understand the important parts of the standard. Control messages are not hidden from the user (as they should not be injected into the newsgroup) and still viewable by the user.
• Properly handle moderated newsgroups by checking for moderation header field.
• Support for the <Message-Id> header field, ensuring that redundant articles are not saved. (This is useful when you receive news from >1 newsfeed)
• Provide support for UUPC and newsreaders configuration and include it in package.
• Politely die in extremely low-memory conditions.
• Command to recover and/or reconstruct the active file whenever it gets corrupted.
